The human species has been around for 2.5 million years, successfully nourished and thriving in the Paleolithic and Neolithic eras through the ancient, medieval, modern and contemporary ages. So, what happened to humanity in the last few hundred years that today we need nutrition coaches, dieticians, nutritional therapies and life hackers to help us figure out what we should and should not be eating?
There are hundreds of nutritional philosophies from vegan to low-carb to paleo to intermittent fasting, leading to terrible confusion and begging the fundamental question: why? Why do we need an expert to tell us what to eat? Why are we getting fatter and sicker? With an alarming rise in cardiovascular disease, cancers, diabetes, mental disorders—and so many more diseases. Why do we prevent ourselves from living the exciting, productive, joyful and complete lives our bodies and minds are designed for? Where are the answers? Are we even asking the right questions? Where is the disconnect? How do we get clarity around food and health?
Uta’s stunning visually facilitated presentation will lead you through the history of humanity and nutrition—from the beginning of time through today. The presentation covers human gene development and adaptation to changing environments and how such changes affected human health, human nutrition and human ingenuity. While the early focus of the Paleolithic era and the Agricultural Evolution is fundamental to the topic, the development of various Traditional Diets around the world and changes in human health inform that there are many healthy diets that have adapted to the natural environment—and yet, they all have crucial elements in common—all of which will be covered. A special focus will be put on the fascinating history last 400 year of dietary evolution and its consequences and opportunities for humanity today.
Uta will also take participants through the crucial digestive process, which is fundamental to nutrient absorption. It’s not only what you eat, but also what you absorb!
Last not least, Uta will leave participants with a manageable list of transformative actions, easily passed on to family and co-workers.
If the venue permits, breaks will feature surprisingly delicious healthy beverages, snacks and quick recipes to keep the energy high and taste buds excited.
